How can you tell the difference by looking at them?

All the Street Hemi motors had three bolt camshafts, the 440 6 pak motors had three bolt camshafts in 1969, I think the 1970 and 1971 6 paks did also The Hemi cams have the #1 intake lobe first, then the #2 intake lobe and then the exhaust lobes, the 440 are the opposite, I think. So if you hold the camshaft so the alignemnt pin is at the 4 o clock position and the first lobe is to the passenger side of the camshaft it is probally a 440, if it is the opposite it is probally a Hemi, I think I should go out into the shop and look at a 440 cam to make sure, huh. Its 20 F degrees out there and I got my jammy on, not tonight
It's no biggy but the 440-6 cam in 69 had one bolt and a nylon timing gear. 70-71 had 3 bolt cams and double roller timimg chains. I always use a 3 bolt cam and double roller timing chain on a rebuild or race setup but the 69 383/440's including the A12's all had the nylon timing gear.

Again....Thanks for all the replies. The main reason I made this post was because I had a guy bring me a bunch of old/used parts to rebuild a low compression stock 426 Hemi besides using a forged 440 crankshaft for on/off trailor car shows and light street driving use.
I did everything by the book, cept I didn't degree the cam, just installed it straight up. It was a 3 bolt by the way and on the old Comp cam box that it came in was marked Hemi in black magic marker. I didn't think twice about it. I couldn't use the new/used timing gear set cause it was too loose for my comfort and ordered a new -.010. Other than that I used all the peices that were supplied to me.
Now its the "shoot myself in the foot time" Took the engine to the dyno and guess what? The supplied 3 bolt cam was from a wedge.
Yup, I messed up, I'm human. Just thought I'd throw this out there. Leason learned, won't happen again.

Tell us the symptoms, did it even try to start and run BTW, I've done as bad, installed a Hemi cam with a three keyway crank gear with the dot above the keyway for straight up lined up with the dot on the cam, not the dot to the left that you should use I always degree cams now, ALWAYS
