i have a 1995 Ram,
but the factory radio is the
Infinity branded cassette tape.
the cassette tape mechanism has repeayedly jammed, despite two repair sessions by the dealership years ago.
No trouble with the display lights.

i also bought a plain jane AM/FM Chrysler radio
for the times when the cassette was being repaired.
No problems with the display lights on that one that i can recall.

over the years i have bought all the various official Chrysler repair manuals and the FSM for 1995 Rams,
including the electrical diagnostic manual,
but i dont recall ever seeing
circuit electrical diagrams
for any of the radios.

Does Chrysler publish
a special service manual
for their vehicle radios by year?

if it does,
what would the official name be,
if you were searching on ebay for it?

The service manuals don't cover the radio. I don't think there is any manual published for them like the old ones had. If there were problems they expected them to be exchanged by the dealer for rebuilt ones.

Check allpar, they have some good writeups about the different radios there that cover some of the common problems.

yep, this at allpar:

and in particular

sample quotes

question
For some reason my head unit in my car is acting a little funky. Its works greats unless its 30 or below out side. The display goes blank and none of the buttons work properly, I still have sound and can usually bring back the display and button operation by randomly pressing two button simotaniously.

One answer by Bob Lincoln
I had this problem on my 92 Daytona when it was less than a year old, 11K miles. It was fixed under warranty. If you're handy, you can fix it yourself, it's simply defective solder joints either on the display board, or the connections from the display board to the main board.

after skimming thru the page on the RES head unit I went ahead and took off my face plate/display unit and guess what i found. the previous owner spilled pop on the radio. GREAT!!!! well needless to say I GENTLY cleaned the display board and faceplate pad with iso-propyl wipes and Im hoping that will fix the display shorting out

I've had a couple of those era radios have the display go out. Sometimes just a thump on the dash will restore it. Warm or cold, same deal.

Just replaced one, bought one on Ebay fairly cheap, you can find them if you're patient.
