Finishing up the details on my 69 B body Dana. Im looking for the red cap/plug that is pushed into the back of the housing just to the left of the cover plate. Anybody making them??

Correct!




Frank informed me last evening that color was a mute point anyways. They were placed before the axle got the black. Thus, they were painted after install. Interesting, every one that I have ever seen restored was popped in after the paint job showing the big red dot. Learning as we go on this one, thats for sure.. EV

Also correct

The plugs are made of injection molded Polyethylene which is a very slick plastic that paint will not chemically bond to, therefore it flakes off rather easily. Most cars had enough exposure to the elements to wash or wear the thin layer of paint off so many people have mistaken a bare dirt covered plug for one that never got painted.

I've had several '69 and earlier Dana 60 rears with the red plug. Seems like the green plug was used from '70-'72.

I seem to recall from a long ago A-12 discussion that the red/green plug was a Dodge/Plymouth thing??? Guess not???
