My 71 Twister has the scoops from the factory and yes, there are no holes in the hood. Completely nonfunctional, but they look cool.

Slightly different subject. I had a 72 Duster 340 (sold it in 05) that had the Twister style hood blackout/decals, but no scoops. A weird car. Dark green with the black hood treatment, black side stripes, white tail panel stripe, buckets, console, radio delete, dog dish hubcaps. Probably should have kept that one, but it needed everything.

Were any of the cars delivered with blackout hood and the 340 wedge call out? No black on the fenders doors or quarters?

Yes the 71 Duster 340's had the black hood with the large 340 decal on the flat hood. I also believe a tach on the hood was an option also. Ron

No, a lot of incorrectly cloned cars have caused a lot of misinformation on these cars.

If you ordered the V24 Hood package it came complete with the 340 Wedge decal and black painted areas on the hood, fenders, cowl, doors, quarters, roof, etc. Also, the upper doors on the INSIDE of the car were satin finish charcoal rather than gloss TX9 Black. No black hood only package was offered and the hood tach was over the counter only.

Back in the '80's I ran across a '71 or '72 340 Duster, south of 270 by Col's. It was yellow, and had an auto on the column. And no, it wasn't for sale...lol That's been the only yellow Duster that I've seen in person.

There, fixed it for you!

The style with the orange/red "Wedge" portion are incorrect, they only appeared that was on marketing materials and even those were likely air brush jobs.

I'm glad about that since i'm assuming the idea behind orange for the wedge decal was to match the engine color, but mine is Blue! ..

Well I think the reason they were made black and white is that marketing was trying to paint a picture of the car overall.

"There's a hot little 340 Wedge packaged into this crate"

Being it's just a "packing crate" of a car, the decal is made to look like a painted on stencil applied at an angle as if on the side or lid of a packing crate, hence the stencil style font used for the word "Wedge". This explains the single color, it looks just as if it were spray painted through a stencil. The red was likely added by different group or person in marketing (who didn't "get" the original concept) to draw attention to the logo in advertising.

Seems logical

Thats basically what I said but I did not point out the rest of the black painted area's. I saw one with the hood tach that was body color and looked good so thats why I thought it was a factory option. But thanks for the correct info. Ron

I have a 72 Duster 340 clone, Yes it was a slant-6, I got a hood with twin scoops and was going to add the holes! Are you all telling me that If I put the holes in the car won't be correct?? So what If I wanted it correct I would have left the slant-6 in it !!!
Can any-one send me the measurements to cut the holes?? All the studs fit the perfectly, Don't the holes go to the front?? Please send the measurements from each side and best other measurement!
Thanks My Mopar friends & Moparts !
