NHRA requires a oil retention device to run super street (10.90 index). My question is who makes a "diaper" to fit a Milodon super stock pan with the steering link going though it? Can it be effective with a hole in both sides of it?
Also on the subject of super street class, if I were to run a NHRA divisional race (LUCUS OIL SERIES), how strick can I expect tech to be? I have a CSR trans shield, but the SFI tag is dated nov 2007. Rules state they are good for 5 years. I have a ATI balancer, but the SFI tag has came off. How close will they check these at a divisional race?

Thanks,
Brian

I did it in Div. 3 from '93 to '01 before the diaper rule, my experience is that they check safety stuff at every race, other stuff sporadically. If you fill out your tech card completely, you are 90% done. If you still have the serial number from your balancer and sheild that you can put on the tech card, that should get you through. I had all my numbers in my log book, no one ever checked my balancer or trans blanket. They did check my helmet, jacket, seat belts, battery disconnect.

I know a guy with a 9-second bracket car that bought a cheepo diaper (ramjet) and sliced and diced it with scissors and put it back together with velcro and passed tech for S/G. This is a back-half B-body with a RB engine and K-member. Just having the diaper on there is is the ticket.

Slicing and dicing up a diaper ? .... MOST of the reason it is there in the first place is to protect YOU ....from skating-around in your own oil at 130 mph or so ....

the csi shield you will need to update it. the balancer they might let that slid. as for the engine diaper your going to need one made with the hole in it for the steering link. cutting a hole in it is a no no.

I have a TCI balancer that was purchased and installed in 1989 and have never had a problem getting thru tech with it--the tech official will ask who the manufacturer is. I race 2 or 3 NHRA divisional races, and a couple National Events every year, in Div. 5. As posted earlier, I would check with DRE on a custom diaper.

DRE will make a diaper to fit your pan like a glove..

I run the SS Milodon Pan with the centerlink hole and had DRE make my diaper..Like Al said it fits like a glove. I also had concerns about the centerlink opening so I fabricated some bellow like sleeves out of kevlar welding arm protectors to seal up the opening. I will try and post some pictures when I get back to the shop
