Check line pressure.. did it just start or getting worse... band adjustments ok
Hey Mike, I race in drive and it seems fine, I had the truck jacked up in the shop and in neutral the wheels turned easy by hand rolling forward and very hard to turn in reverse, this is with the front hubs unlocked, so I started it up and found it drives the wheels fine in D... then they will just about stop rolling in low and same in reverse, It may be the band cause It in not engaged in drive, just low and reverse, is there a possibility that band broke?

Its not bent, To readjust it its tighten till snug and back off 2 turns ? I think the servo is hanging up, how much air pressure to test it?

I guess thats the spec for your valve body ... 2 should be ok... you might call the valve body company to get the proper spec... about25#- 30# air will be fine

As discussed, it sounds like something in the rear band, linkage, servo, etc. I don't know how familiar you are with a TF 727, but be sure you are looking at the rear band, and not the front one. This topic has some images of the rear linkage. Rear Band linkage Look closely at the rear servo for proper action, not sticking etc. If possible, remove the valve body and air check the rear servo action. Be careful, fluid is likely to spray when you do it. 30 psi is plenty, 20 might do it.

6 turns is a lot
Yep, it sure is, I think the band was slipping, not sure on the hard to turn in reverse yet, I never use low 1 just reverse, the truck has been makin good power so we have been blowing off all 4 wheels and upshifting to hi 3 in the first few feet off the line, I did notice on the tach play back I hit the 7200 chip on the top of the 1-2 shift & the top of the 2-3, thats a new thing but the starting line has been real deep and wet so far this year.. lots of rain.. Ill keep foolin with it till I get it figured out

The hard to turn in reverse in pretty normal, it has to do with the over running clutch/sprag, it spins in one direction but locks up in the other and forced you to have to spin more mechanicals with in the trans like planitary.s and drums,,,kinda the short explaination.
Light travels faster than the speed of sound,,,this is why some people seem bright untill you hear them speak.

Thankx Bill, Jim we always run out of D on the sprag, first gear lasts about a tenth of a second then it shifts second gear, We use first gear just to get the weight of the tires 450lbs and drive line moving, The sprag seems to handle it ok, I know you guys dont use first in the box but I thought it was on first gear decell that messed up the sprags? One more abnormal thing... wheels are turning in neutral more than normal... I cant stop them by hand now, I have to use the brake, Before I could. Also about how much fluid comes out from dropping a stock pan, engine was just run and vert was full?

Tires spinning on jack stands isn't unusual but if the car creeps forward in Neutral the rear clutch is dragging.....could also explain the lazy Reverse.
Stock pan holds about 4 qts.

Thankx John... The truck wont move in N with it on the ground but with the wheels off and on stands I cant stop the axles from turning by hand.... They used to roll real slow in N with no power behind them or start and stop on the stands with change in rpm, I can feel a slight jerk in N on the ground when we start the engine then it slips into N with no movement.... as you said it feels like a clutch pack is stuck or dragging then frees up..... It may be time to start going thru the spare trans... .... I would like to thank everyone for the input... I am not too savvy on torqueflites
