I was just thinking of the hidden costs of an engine rebuild relating to consumables like cleaners, paper towels, sealers, assembly lubes, etc and was curious what every uses?
Here is a few I can think of that I use:
Tide + dishwashing liquid to clean the block with block brushs.
WD40 to protect the machined surfaces after cleaning and drying. I have also used it as cutting fluid when I was out.
Aceatone to clean/remove oil from parts I don't want oil on.
Indian Head gasket shellac for freeze plugs, oil galley plugs, and the large outer oil filter gasket under the filter plate on small blocks.
ARP Ultra lube for head, main and rod bolts and studs.
Liquid Teflon sealant for most external pipe plugs, sending units, water pump bolts that go into water jackets, and intake manifold bolts.
Royal Purple assembly lube for piston pins, bearings, valve guides.
Red locktight for flywheel bolts
Blue locktight for cam and crank bolts, carb studs to intake, and crank pulley bolts.
Ultra Gray RTV for stud girdle to block, and valley tray.
Anti-seize or various bolts and spark plugs.
Dielectric grease for spark plug boots.
I'm sure there is more.

Like to hear what others are using.
I have never used the "Right Stuff" gasket maker, but hear it is good.
One sealer that I really like is the Mopar Black ATF RTV. It seems to seal really good.
