Okay, I'm one of the lucky ones, got my Weiand 7503 for less than $200. But something inside keeps telling me there has to be a better intake.

A while back I bought a bunch of gaskets hoping that the two LA head gaskets that the guy said were steel really were (they weren't). In that mix were a few intake gaskets for ford 351W. Holding them up to a 318P intake gasket, I can move them around so the ports almost exactly overlay each other.
The 351W has a 9.5" deck height vs the Poly 9.6, so they should be in the same ballpark. The water routing is different and going to require some major surgery, but there are really nice intakes, not to mention MPFI intakes, for the 351W.

Anyone out there ever look into this?

Thanks,
R.

I think the SB Fords have the opposite cylinder offset that the SB Mopars have ie: the passenger bank of cylinders is ahead of the driver side (or the other way around, can't remember)

right bank is forward on a sbf cyl 1 is right front...the opposite of mopar. also the front of a ford is curved for the distributor the mopar is flat. to make a good intake you will prob have to have one fabricated. Or change to a LA or magnum engine, your really limited with the poly.

Edelbrock P600 3x2 - I'm putting one on my poly in 2 weeks, using 3 rochester 2G carbs. Basically copying the pontiac tripower setup...

Well, I was worried about the offset thing, but I hadn't checked. Bummer!
The P600 is an antique. What I want is an Edelbrock Performer RPM AirGap.
Look at HotHemiHeads' new intakes. They are really quite nice. It's a pity they haven't cast one for the 318Poly yet. With Weiand 7503s selling for $500 on an asking price of $700, and the stock '62 4-barrel intake at about the same price, there has to be SOMEONE out there to fill the gap.

The main reason that Edelbrock gave for building pontiac aluminum heads was the price people were paying for stock heads.
