Gents,
I'm pretty well versed on B and RB engines, but need expert advise on this parts package I'm considering buying. Am a big fan of the wedge, but have always wanted to build a Hemi. Anything bad about the block, heads, etc in this package? Don't think I'll be able to beat the deal anytime soon and would make a 1968 Dart or Barracuda into a pretty cool tribute car.

So these are parts, not an assembly? Have any of them ever been run? If so, what do you know of it's history?

Hope it works out for you.

Hello Dave, all new parts in packages for those that will fit. Was wondering if there was a problem with the block, for instance, since there were issues with foundrys and production back then.

No way to know on the block by just the part number unless that is a WORLD block then it still may be hit or miss , machining was a big issue with them all .

If it's an earlier block be weary of blocks that were porous that went out the back door instead of melted down to recast ...

Seller says "This is a Mopar Performance stock replacement block for the 426 cu.in manufactured around 2000-2001" if that helps. Thanks for the replies.

Sounds like a fun project. That engine package is very close to what I built for my Dart. Same block, crank and heads. It makes more power than I know what to do with.

....there is nothing like driving my 1968 Hemi Dart around town and having people looking at you like you're nuts!!

engine...

You must use the headers from TTI if your going into a A body. They fit like a glove!!

Jim is correct, also look at the back of the block just above the bell housing bolts for any indication of a tag being glued on.Many of the street blocks came with a tag:bore to max.4.280 or 4.375.If not as Jimmy said sonic test and do it frequently on the Major and minor thrust.Try and maintain .180 after finish bore.

Hey Jerry, how long have you been in Florida? Any chance you will stationed back up this way?

I got mine fired up this week. Sounds awesome, but I am chasing a water issue. With a little luck I will get the brakes together today and be able to take it around the block.

Check the upper rear main seal slot that receives the upper half of the seal. I have a block of the same vintage and the upper seal is off to one side .70 + or -, I have tried 3 rear mains and I cannot get it to stop leaking,(a very small leak, that I have lived with for years)I will go with a rope seal next winter. You might check your block before assembly.

Hey Dave, moved my stuff there last June, then went to El Paso / Ft. Bliss TX to train up for another tour in AFG. Am there now...look forward to getting home and putting some projects together! Most of my stuff is in So. IL in storage at the moment. Keep me posted on your new bullet...the flat tappet cam from Scott Brown really worked out well, thanks for the tip! Ran out of traction at 11.20s @120 though! Not too bad for a 4100lb street car! Looking forward to seeing how the Hemi does, in a '68 Barracuda built as an BO29 clone!

11.20s spinning. That's a good start. We have got to get together when you get back.

Good luck!

If those heads are the pre Edelbrock aluminum heads I would be leary. Numerous problems with seats, guilds, machining.

The old blocks are fine, but I would measure everything. You might find the bores are all over the place and the deck has too coarse a finish

Do they make the TTI headers to fit the Stage V replacement heads?

yes, standard hemi headers. 2 1/8, and i believe the 2 1/4 are the same flange and bolt pattern.

i have the 2 1/8 on my car, and they have been on both mopar and stage V heads.
