440 6 PACK.. When the engine is warm it is extreamly hard to restart. Runs perfect once started. It will only start if the accelerator is pushed completely to the floor but it does not seem like it is flooded. Fuel is below all sight plugs & the shooter is working good. Choke is disconnected. It just started this nonsense after I fixed a vacuum leak caused by a mis- ajusted rear carb linkage in the rear carb.

As always I turn to you guys for your knowledge. Thanks, danny

You need to look and see if the choke is closing causing it to go too rich. If you have to hold the pedal down, you are giving it more air, so it must be rich somehow. I remember you and your car from years ago. You should be the expert ! If you don't figure it out here, let me know, maybe a look see will reveal something !

George is that you..? Give me a hint!!

Yeah. Just when I think I know everything about the 6 pack something simple gets over looked & I'm a novice once again. Choke looks fine!! I'll keep poking till I find the problem. Any other takers out there?

So easy a Caveman could do it.. yeah my a$$>

I know next to nothing about six-pack induction, but could the fuel be percolating after you shut the engine off? I don't know if those manifolds had a crossover or not.

No it's not that. I run insulated carb spacers never a boiling problem.

Maybe you're looking in the wrong place. Could it be some coincidence that a little more air helps it start. Maybe week ignition. Did you knock a wire loose at the ballast resistor ? See if you are getting a hot spark.

Have you rechecked the timing since
repairing the vaccum leak ?

No ballast as I'm running a 6AL which is near new. I will trace the wiring & confirm spark.

You had a vacuum leak which causes a lean mixture, you fixed the leak so i'm guessing you are too rich now.

Found the problem!! The power valve was blown. Must have happened when it back fired last week. Your suggestions helped steer me. Thanks again.
