Before wasting money on that, I would look at pro systems sv1. I have used a lot of them and no dominator holds a candle to them.

I find the SV-1 very interesting and would like to see if one would improve the way my car idles and transitions. But I can find very little real world experiences and what I do find is rather mixed.

It would seem that after being available for several years, if it was clearly an improvement, we would be hearing more positive reports and seeing an increasing number of them. But we're really not.

That being said, if I had the chance, I would like to strap one on for a while. Just to see.

The reason you don't see a lot more of them is because they are different. Just like efi people are scared. I can tell you anything you need to know. I am a dealer.

I know member Sledgehammer has an SV1 on his street dart. He seems to do very well with his, but I believe he is in the 800 plus hp range.

First off my mopar mentor(RIP) had 2 different GW dominators and they worked great on his 499 Indy 440-1 all motor bracket car and went high 8s.

SV1 - I run one! It works good! I first bought it when the motor was different and I broke a couple lifters and the engine is different now from when I bought it so I have done tuning on it and have been picking up. I lent the SV1 out to a member on here with a HEMI with more power than me and he has a 1250 PS dominator and my SV1 is 1212 cfm! He told me he went .05 slower with the SV1 (he can verify) but did not mess with my carb and his is tuned for his combo...since I have had my carb back I made a adjustment on back to back passes and I picked up 1.6 mph in the 1/8th . I have one of the early SV1s and still working on it.

I heard the bigger the hp the better the sv1 performs. Im looking for a used 1050 Dom in nice shape built by a respectable builder. I've seen some of the pro systems go for 600,my price range.

My as delivered SV1 for MY combo 1212 at the time Sv1 was .05 slower than the than a 1250 PS dominator for HEMI. I feel pretty confident my SV1 for the same engine now would be better on the HEMI and I'm not done yet. Carb MFGs and style mean nothing to
me. Just telling my experience. Don't wanna buy a SV1 I could csew less just sharing...

Lookin to save a few bucks on this one. I've bought thousand dollar carb before and when I sold I got 500 bucks. Done throwing money away. Devinci, book, mark willams, pro systems used should be fine then.

I don't think the primary issue is fear of something new. It is the cost/benefit ratio. I have looked at both EFI and the SV-1.

EFI is just too expensive for the benefits it brings. AND it can be even more difficult than a Dominator to dial in. Just look at some of the threads here on Moparts. And then you have your new EFI system going obsolete before you get it out of the box. Just too much drama.

It seems that for a few high horsepower applications, the SV-1 shows good promise. But again, for it's cost, you can have a Dominator custom built AND tuned on your engine by someone like Willy's Carbs.

If the reports of the end users of the SV-1 and EFI were positive overall, I would be in. Being new is a plus not a problem as far as I am concerned.

In my opinion, neither one is ready for prime time. Maybe someday.
