I have a Moroso 7qt and put 7 qts in it for the first time. So my question is how much more do I put in for the oil galleys and oil fiter.
I filled the filter as much as I could (1/2 way) and was wondering if I should put more to compensate for the oil gallies and the rest of the oil system.

Full mark on the dipstick will remain constant no matter how deep your pan.

The dipstick and dipstick tube aren't stock.
I need to mark the dipstick with an engraver for proper fill marks when I get it at the right level.

I fill the pan off the car and see the level at 7 qts. My milodon pan with 7 qts is over full. 5.25 qts filled the sump properly. The rest would just need to fill the filter, and a little for circulation, about 6 total tops. Yours may be the same scenario. I'm glad I checked, because @ 7 qts the crank was either in the oil or too close. Many books recommend 2 full inches from the crankshaft. Thats a little bit optimistic for ground clearance purposes, but you get by point.

That sucks. The engine is in the car so it'll be hard to do that. I think the dip stick is out of a Magnum Dakota. I'll see if I can find the receipt. If it is then I should just use the fill marks on the stick, right? LA & Magnum same in that respect?

well i have the milodon 7qt pan (340) and changed the oil the other day. I put in 8qts (i extra for the filter) and the oil level was at the FILL line on the dipstick.

Im thinking these new chrome dipsticks arent that accurate.

anyone know the correct tube length for the small black. I had a bitt of trouble getting the tube in the block. it might be up a little bit. a measurement would confirm this

The dipstick tube on my 1974 318 measures about 7 3/4 inches from the block to the top of the tube and the full mark on the dipstick is 16 3/8" down from the top of the tube. This is not a factory tube, it has been cut to length which i hope is right lol. Stock oil pan and 5 quarts of oil put's it right between the U and the L on full which is slightly above the full line. hope this helps.
