there are two different mopar "blue" colors. Small blocks in the early 70s were actually a light blue color. The older big block color was more of a turqoise, but the rattle cans I've found of it still call it "Chrysler Blue". Someone else will likely chime in with some actual part numbers.

Yes I know of the turquoise as well, had a late 60s 383 or 2 that were that color. I think the darker blue was like '72 or '73 and up. I have only found one mention of it on the internets and the guy said it's a mystery color. Here is a link and quote. http://www.dippy.org/forum2/index.php?topic=106.0"Blue - (No Mopar number) (Color code never appeared in manuals) Slightly darker than the standard blue used on the 70's LA engines. Paint also turned Turquoise with heat. Even Galen Govier does not have a spec for mixing. This paint was used on a lot of 340' and other LA engines in late 69. Most restorers use Blue Mopar P4349217 (above) to repaint and the judges agree."

Attached is a pic of my motor with rattle trap paint. It is chrysler blue from Plastisol. I believe it looks pretty close to the blue motor i compared it too. It maybe a tad lighter but as it ages they get a bit darker anyway. I would suggest clearing over it. Some will say don't do it it will look to shiny I haven't found that to be the case and cleaning up and spills is much easier. If you look closely at mine you may find a aluminum piece or two as well.
What was I thinking....

I also used Plastikote 232 on my 360 Aspen. It does a nice job.
