I got e new KB stage10 with BAE 3 heads.
I will use a raceprepd 6/71 and birdchatcher.
Running methanol.

I will use a superprepd 727 tranny, but I dont know what converter to us.
The dragster will weigh 1000pounds and we will only use 1500hp in the beginning.

Just looking for a good converter with not to much stall.
I know Cajjan, I even drove his FED one time.
He runs a 392 hemi and PG, wich it not what I have.
I run a KB 426 and 727.

Yes we can have a garage walk around in spring time

good! just thought he might have had some usefull experience since i believe he is fairly close to your powerlevel that 392 sure makes some power.. for what its worth last i spoke to danielson he said that 727īs are weak and wont last over 1200HP,then again he wanted to sell a PG with extra everything and your application is quite diferent to most since you have a light piperack.

Six-pack,

Not trying to be a downer, but I don't think you want your legs and feet anywhere close to the backside of a 727 in a front-motored car in any blown Hemi application. Yes it is definitely possible to build a 727 to handle the power, but when you're straddling the tranny, you will only get one chance to be wrong, regardless of how many blankets and shields are wrapped around it. Aside from the safety aspect, the first gear ratio is going to be way too violent for a light FED. At the very least, put a very tall rear gear in it. As far as convertor, I would suggest a bigger, loose convertor. With the bottom end torque of a blower motor,if the convertor comes in too soon, you'll either blow the tires off or point the nose up in the air if they hook. The looser convertor will let you get further downtrack, allowing the tires to catch up with the power level of the engine and a bigger (say 10")will absorb more heat without loosing consistency. You have to think of a looser convertor in the same way as the guys that run the slipper clutches in a FED, you won't see any lockup clutches in a car like that, all they would do is hop and skip down the track. A tight convertor will do the same thing. Just my

Go with the Powerglide! Been there done that with a Torquflyte, and even in just an injected car, very violent launches! Makes for one hell of an adrenaline rush, but not for real consistant passes.

I was thinking to use second and third gear only, and I have all the best parts for a 727 (Aluminum drum etc.)
And the tranny needs to be short and my tranny housing is from an old FC and really short.
But I can agree with the PG statement, I will look in to it.
The rear is a fullfloater 9 inch with 3.90 gears.

Thanks for your input

There are at least 2 companies making Glides that live behind Pro Mod motors with great success. Nothing to be afraid of.

I would be interested in how far out your motor is. A 727 is long. Most FED's run a glide. In my FED I run a shorty glide and 6.75" shaft between the couplers. There is no way I would put a 727 in there. By a glide with and SFI case and be safe.

When I got my '68 Woody Gilmore, it had a shorty Torqueflyte in it, same length as a shorty Glide. With either tranny, I had to cut down the coupler to 4". I could tickle the motorplate with my foot.

Mafo, that only solves part of the problem, a Lenco is only a 2-speed unit, you still have to have a convertor drive(Bruno/Quickdrive or similar) or clutch/bellhousing combo. A Lenco-drive 2-speed is a stand alone unit that utilizes CS-2 internal components and can have one or more Lenco units bolted to it to make a 3,4 or more speed tranny. In Six-packs case, a PG can be built to take any abuse he can give it, given the weight of the car and 2-speeds is more that adequate. But, if he wants to bite the bullet and take the ultimate step, the Lenco-drive is probably the way to go....

I'm not trying to set a world record, this is just my FUN car.
My real racecar is still my Challenger.

The tailshaft on my 727 is just 4-5 inches long so thats why I was thinking of use it.

But now I'll go the PG route.

Thanks

When I built my brothers nostalgia altered I ended
up using the standard length glide to get the engine
in the right place for the weight distribution on
the car... granted its a altered(125" wheel base)
and with that we had a 4" long drive shaft(center to
center of the U-joints) with a fixed/rigid rear suspension
