Ok so I picked up a rust free 96 ram1500 standard cab short box 318/46re for 600$. was told trany slips when warmed up. So I droped the pan it was real clean inside. I installed the "sure cure" kit in the valve body and adjusted the bands. I also replaced the the govenor presure/overdrive solinoids. I installed a cooler and removed the checkvalve and filled it with ATF+4. I have drove it about 75 miles now and really don't think the trany is "slipping" but I don't think the torque coverter is locking up. It has 3.55 gears and 265-70-16 tires and runs 2000rpm at 60 which seams kind of high was thinking it should be more like 1600. How can I check to make sure its a bad converter and not something else. I have a code reader but not a scanner.

The best way is with a scanner. You can see if it electrically works and mechanically. You can moniter the sensors like make sure the brake pedal switch is not on and watch the TPS and make sure the eng is warming up. Ron
