Well, I have had a little time to organize my pictures and start going over the game plan on my new purchase. I couldn't be happier. Surprisingly, it is probably the roughest body I have bought in a long, long time. The good thing is that when I say that, it still means that it is a body out of Georgia, not out of Ohio. So the rough stuff is mostly up top. It does need lower quarters, lower sectoins of the extensions(doubtful I will replace the whole extension(s). It will need a couple patches in the trunk floor, at the top of the right quarter, in the drivers floor pan, under the battery tray, and probably about 20,0000 hours of blocking, sanding, and blocking and sanding again! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shock.gif" alt="" />
My game plan: get the brakes done. Go through the steering/bushings/rear springs/shocks. New wheels and tires. Fuel system replacement is next. Go through the trans, new seals in the rear axle, maybe change the gear, find a driveshaft, a flywheel, put a clutch in it, and find a 383(JohnRR is on that one, and hopefully we can get together on it), a radiator, and then drive the he!! out of it! I will get the body done as time and money comes available, but I don't want to do a complete tear down to do it. Probably start at the back and drop the tank and send it somewhere (possibly where I bought it) and have the everything rearward of the door post strikers done and sealed.
Here are some pics. Enjoy!

I'll add more as I have time... Just an idea of what I am working with.

Mo pics...

The trunk is not real bad. Has some holes in it, but overall is solid.

Interior. Shot. But complete. Except for a shift knob, a radio, and one seat medallion. Oh, and a steering wheel. The last three cars I have bought had these mini wheels on them. I'm now out of replacements. I guess I will have to steal the one off the Dart that I just put on.

It's okay. You can be jealous of the aftermarket speaker hanging down...
No, that starter won't be going back on anytime ever.
You can see the holes to the left of the picutre, and under the brake pedal. It got the screwdriver solidity test. The rest if very solid. Looks like a couple patches are in order.

The passenger floor wasn't replaced, but was primered it looks like. Just a crappy pic.

It's missing a door panel. Good thing I have an extra set of matching woodgrain strips. I think the 'fade' on a set would be hard to match.

Now on to the problem areas.
The top of the quarter is a little holy... This and the lower portion makes me think very hard about replacing it with a factory style quarter. Especially when you add in the back window rust.
I'm guessing the whole window channel and dutchman panel as well as corners. But then again, it isn't apart yet. Preparing for the worst.

You can see the only piece of missing windshield molding I have to find. The car is pretty complete.
Someone added some really cool(not) aftermarket hood pins. Luckily for me, they are in the factory location. If it will look okay with a set of the right ones on it, I may leave pins on. Just not those.

Not sure if you can see the holes hacked in for the pins.

Air box is complete. Believe it or not the seal is kinda brittle.

Passenger door. I'm thinking of finding a set of rust free western doors. I think those I should be able to find. Would like to replace the fenders, too, but they are probably made of the ultra-rare unobtanium.

Now residing in its new home until I get it roadworthy.

Gotta love the snow tires.

Missing one stud...

...make that three.

Ick.

Ick again.

Right front. Strangely, and I thought a got a picture, the left front had nothing but a wheel cylinder in it. It probably did not brake very even.

Progress!

Sorting and getting ready to clean up the parts to be reused.

Amazing the wheel cylinder still moved inside. Fluid was actually kinda clean. Got the bore measured and the first order of parts on the way. Time to clean up the backing plates before reassembly. No, not going to pull the axles to remove the plates. Will just clean them with a liberal amount of brake clean. Removing the axles will make a tiny snowball. Then the seals will need replaced while they are out and the snowball grows. Then with new seals and pretty backing plates there is no reason to put the old bearings back in, and man, those axle flanges look like crap! But then putting the nice backing plates on the ugly rear housing... Can't do that. Better strip it. Yep, that's how it would go. Best to just clean the plates and put the thing back together. Although I will most likely turn the drums and blast them. Maybe not in that order.
Stay tuned!

I love your Bee! Actually, it is junk, please let me know what you paid and I'll tack on a little to help you out of the mess you got yourself into

I did exactly what you are doing with both my Bee and my Swinger. Both cars had been off the road since the mid-'70's. I started with the fuel systems, then the brakes and drivetrains. They have been a real blast to beat around and folks love them as is!

Ditto...my brakes are done and I'm about to go through the fuel system. Thanks to those of you who unknowingly help motivate me

Yes to both. I found on the sheet it was born with road wheels. Even cooler.
Try to respond to a couple posts by memory!
Thanks to both of you that did your cars in the same 'order' or with the same idea, anyway. I tried to do a whole ground up deal and was never really happy with the results. Or lack of.
Jerry, I might just have to slip a couple electronic correspondence in to esteemed Mr. Challenger. A lot of info to be had. Was just informed a package came today. Look like the first load of brake parts are here!

This I HAD to respond to. Funny you did an A12 and a Swinger. I'm getting into a 'normal' (although I've never seen a 3x black Bee before) Bee and a GTS. Both '69's.
Here is the Dart waiting its turn. I don't have any pics of them together yet. But I will eventually!
Oh, as for the purchase price... It doesn't matter. A Nigerian prince just emailed me and all of my money problems seem to be over! So no news to entertain offers on it!

nice score! yeah those aren't Ohio 1/4s. But sometimes you can't go by that. Mine came out of Michigan, and the 1/4s were junk, but surprisingly everything else is solid.
