What I would like to do is route my fuel line so there's a plumbers ball valve with the handle sticking up thru the floor around the dr seat & I reach down & turn it 1/4 turn to shut the flow off when I park the car & if they have the expertise to hot wire it & take off it'll die in the middle of the street a block away & they'll crank & crank & no go & have to bail. JC Whitney used to sell an electrically controlled solenoid inline fuel line valve that accomplished the same thing that you could activate with a button on the shifter in case you were carjacked

You want a latching relay, so you would push a switch to activiate it, it will stay on until you shut the car off and then it would close a solenoid valve until you push the switch again. Timer relays are way expensive, a 5 second timer can run $50 for a bosch style relay. Wiring one to latch is way cheaper. Tim

How about a dual fuel tank switch from an 80s Chevy Truck...I installed on on my 70 Charger..remember getting the idea from my 80 Silverado, read RH and LH (tanks)....wire it up to one side sucking fuel from the tank and wire up the other side to suck air.
If you could find a steering wheel (i had one from Grant that disconnected the coupler at the column and put a safety cap on)...if you could find the hidden switch for the coil killer, and then also find the switch for the fuel then you were in business....I let a friend try to steal it one time....he figured out how to steer the car without a wheel, figured out the coil engage....and we drove off together...what he didnt count on was there was only 30 seconds of fuel in the line and he bled it dry...by that time a would be thief would be on the street, in an intersection...won't want to spend time cranking it over with people looking and run away...meanwhile I should be getting a phone call from the police dept to come get my car...Luckily it never came to ever getting a phone call.

First, thanks for everyone's advice it has helped a lot in reserch.
I did some research on a latching relay and it seems that it will not close by itself when ignition is turned off.
Afeter doing more research, I would like a fuel line seloinoid that will close by itself when ignition is turned off and have a button to open it and stay open (I do not want a toggle switch since it needs to be turned off manually every time to work). Is anyone running anything like this?
Wouldn't the latching relay turn off when you shut off the ignition and cut power to it?

Fern, seems to me you are overthinking this. Why not just convert to an electric fuel pump, which just might kill two birds with one pump, so ta' speak
A rear mount pump properly wired through a relay will give you a control line to hook to a hidden/ "un" obvious switch, as well as help prevent fuel boil/ vapor lock problems.
I may have to go this route since I can't find a solenoid that would work in-line with a switch. Thanks
