I bought the Canton remote oil filter adapter pn # 22-595 and when I go to install it I notice that it spins on via the big center thread but there is a hole off to the side that is left open. What am I missing here?I have never had one of these before and this is supposed to be the proper one acording to Summitt.

Your probably looking at the oil supply hole... the
oil enters the outside of the filter and returns to
the engine in the enter (it always inters on the OD
of the filter due to more surface area)EDIT
Did you take the flat plate off... I think on that
you have to leave it on and the adapter screws right on

I was using the 90 deg adapter.........but another engine in my pile has the flat plate with holes around the outside in a circle.Canton also sells these and I guess they flow better.I knew I was missing something its just that with an early a body I have allways had to run the 90 deg adapter but not anymore.I just put out a pile of money for a set of TTI step headers and I don't want to spill oil all over them.It does pay to pre-fit stuff with an empty block and trans in the car. Thanks mr p I found what I need.
