Removed my starter splash shield during disassembly. The entire shield was pretty much rust but I thought that there were still some remnants of black paint on it. Was the entire shield semi-gloss black originally? This is for a 1970 Duster 340

Very thin coat of simi flat black paint. I have seen this many times before.
