My dealings with Kenny at PTC have been nothing but positive. Nice guy to work with. My $450 PTC runs with-in .05 of my $1200 Turbo Action. I'm happy with both. Never had a failure with either.

After seeing the results a friend had with PTC there is no way I'd own one. Think he had his trans out like four times.. leaks, internal failures... it was really quite sad.

The converter leaked and broke parts or the trans?

One day I will have something cool here.

I have been running a PTC converter in my Challenger for over 10 years. No issues.

Every convertor builder in the country has had failures at one time or another, many times through no fault of their own, material failures, installation screwups, etc. You have to look at what their success ratio's are, and judging from the above responses, PTC's is as good as anyone. I know I've been happy dealing with them and I probably put as much stress on my convertors as anyone here.

I'm sorry you're having an issue with the converter. We did receive an email from you this morning and replied to you a few minutes after receiving. I went back through our email records and don't find any previous emails from your address. I apologize if you sent any emails from another address that weren't returned. We are far from perfect, but we do strive to answer them in a timely manner.
Regarding the damage to your converter, it's hard to place blame on anyone in this case. It's broken and if given the chance we will do whatever it takes to fix it and make things right for you. You can always call us at 256-383-6868, Mon - Fri, 7:00-5:00. We look forward to hearing from you!

I too in the beginning used a PTC converter. I will say this, I have two others by them and they work flawlessly. With my P7 combo, nothing seemed to work for it and was told there was nothing else they could do. I contacted another converter manufacturer and ended up with the same result after several test sessions. I then contacted A1 who is accustomed to dealing with high RPM comp style combos. Installed their converter (7") and picked up 3 tenths in the 1/4. Since that time, 60'...1.06, 1/8th...4.68, 1/4...7.41 @3600'. BUT like I said PTC does really good work and has a quality product which is obvious from the thousands of satisfied customers (me included). It just was not the best choice for a 10,000+ RPM 358" engine. The P7 is an animal all in its own and likes components most engines of the same make up don't. One thing we did find which was uncharacteristic for a short stroke, small cubic inch engine is it reacted better with lower stall (6-6500) than its similar (SB2)bore stroke combos liked (8000). Go figure? Like I said, Kenny @ PTC is a great guy with a large amount of experience and is as good as anyone out there IMO. FWIW, this P7 combo and converter is for sale on RJ Wanted to step up a class with what we now call a P607.... Hemi. Hope all my rambling of experiences may have helped.

I'd stay up to call Kenny or Lane on the phone,Fu$K email. Kenny and the rest of the PTC crew are great to deal with! I have for many years and never a regret whether my own or a customers unit.

...I believe this member bought a PTC from all the "good word" touted here...and I have no doubt that alot of people are happy with the product. As the person involved with the company stated, everyone has that "one" deal that just doesn't fly.. but seeing a guy haul his car from Sacramento to Vegas just to have it break before he even made a pass.... no thanks. I will add though, he did say that they bent over backwards trying.

You still haven't even said what kind of problems you had.

You're always going to have groups of people leaning one way or another, sometimes due to personal experiences, other times simply word of mouth. You need to take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt.

There are 5 PTC converters in my house, all work the way they should. One of them has over 1000 passes on it. My good friend is a 2 time stock eliminator World champion, converter in that car is a PTC as well.

On the same token I know Al, and a few others here haven't had the best luck with PTC converters. But remember, for every person voicing opinions about negative outcomes, there are probably dozens who didn't ever have a problem.

I'm having a converter freshened/rebuilt for my new combo and I'm sending it to Lenny @ Ultimate. I have no first hand experience with his converters, but I know many people are happy with them so i'll give him a try. I know customer service at both Ultimate and PTC is second to none, and that alone is worth something.

Well - since I'm the one referenced. Let me preface this with 2 things. First, the PTC converter worked great. Second, Kenny and Lane are absolutely stellar and will do whatever they havef to do to try and make something right.

Now, for my horror story. I went through 7 PTC converters in a year. 4 broken internally (I didn't open them up, just sent them back and got replacements) but never got more than 10 runs on any converter, 1 snout too long (yet it was supposed to be one of the converters I had sent back), 1 input shaft splines looked like they had been machined by a 3 year old, 1 with holes in the welds so it shot fluid everywhere.

As for the story J Body mentioned. I had broken a PTC converter during a race at Sacramento shifting from 2 to 3 - which took me out in the semi's. The next week was Pink's All Out in Vegas. Call Kenny and he sends me a new one, I pay the shipping for the new one and to send the old one back. Receive it on Wednesday. Thursday tow the Demon to Al's shop in Fairfield (83 miles away) to put it in (my trans was fun to take out). Try to put in the converter - no go - half of the splines in the snout are not there and the others are uneven. Call Kenny, pay overnight shipping to ge another one on Friday. Receive it Friday afternoon, drive back to Al's shop. We get the new converter in at 9pm, but no time to test the stall or anything else - hey it went on an no fluid came out of it. Drive home, pack everything up, get up uber early and do the 11 hour tow to Vegas. Pit next to Al, go through tech. Come back to the pit and Al says. "Hey let's test the stall since we never got a chance to do that." OK - fire it up, finger on the button, bring it up and BANG. Another converter let's go. Push it into the trailer and play pit b!tch for others over the weekend.

A a running joke, we had the 7 little PTC stickers lined up on one of Al's toolboxes - kinda like fighter pilot kills.

Again - I have nothing but nice things to say about Kenny and his crew - he will literally bend over backwards to help. But, I just ran out of patience and as I mentioned pulling my trans is not the funnest thing in the world. So, I decided to lick my wounds and go with a much recommended ATI. Car ran great with it, but I only had a handful of passes on it before I parked it. So, we'll see on the durability thing when I get back out there.

I didnt say PTC screwed up! Its not easy here because there is only few shops that open them up, not very cheap to send converter around the globe everytime i need something changed.

I emailed PTC after those 4 first runs that the stall speed was not correct but i never got an answer. Thats why i sended it to local shop, my mistake.

I believe local shop twisteed the fins and adjusted some shimming which is not correct way i believe, but everythin else is from PTC. Anybody know guys from ptc? can they still fix this or should i put it on my living room wall

if you dont whant to ship to usa mabe Tony at http://www.danielssonsbil.se/pages/racing_converters.html
can help you?
sweden is not that far from you
