Looking to convert my single points small block to electronic. Would like to keep it looking stock. Anyone use Ignitor III conversion kit with the Flamethrower III coil? Thanks.

the Pertronix I has gotten very good praise for it's simplicity/reliability. Do you need the addit'l bells/whistles ($$$) of the III

I dont run one, but my dad has an ignitor III on the 440 in his '70 Coronet R/T.

Works exactly as they say it does... having a modern rev-limiter ignition hidden under the distributor cap of the stock distributor is pretty slick.

Put the Igintor I and coil in my 383 in 2011 and have had no issues. Starts right up and runs smooth. Kept the ballast resistor inplace for the stock look, just replaced the resistor with wire.

I have not used the Ignitor III. I have used an Ignitor I, Pertronix Flame-thrower coil and their plug wires on a brand X vehicle since 2005 (it's '64 Pontiac). Zero issues. Definitely recommended.

17 yrs on a daily driver with Ignitor I with chrome 40,000 volt flamethrower coil,BR by-passed.

just got the Ignitor I with chrome 40,000 volt coil for the Mallory Mech duel point dist I have.

no built in rev limiter and will spin to 15,000 rpm with no trouble.

of course my junk floats the valves around 5500 rpm and I never need the extra bells & whistles with rev limiter.

but have read of good results with the II & III ignitors.

A friend had a Pertronix in his chevy. He left the key on by mistake and it was toast.
