Do you have a preference in steering wheel diameter? I know the NHRA rulebook requires minimum 13" diameter, but do you prefer something bigger? when it comes to quick release adapters...hex or spline? and why?
this is for a lightweight tube chassis car if it matters

Maybe they say 13" at a NHRA event... I've been running
a 10" since I built my car and at one time it was
certed to 7.50 now its 8.50... I prefer the splined
one so you can index it easy and much closer to where
you want it
EDIT
it makes a difference on the wheel if you have a fast
or slow ratio steering... I slowed mine down just
so its harder to over steer if you get out of shape

I had a tech inspector at Maple Grove fail me in tech for a 11" steering wheel. It was years ago, but it was just a regular weekly bracket race. I'm not keen on the idea of towing to a track and being bounced at tech for something that I know is illegal!

Doesn't a larger wheel effectively "slow down" steering?

opposite - larger wheel - less turns lock to lock

How does a larger wheel change the number of turns lock to lock?

It doesnt... you just move your hands farther... I
changed the ratio at the steering arms... I went longer
so for the same amount of turn put to the wheel it
moves the steering arm/tire less.. thats on the race
car... on my Rampage I have a 15" steering wheel(stock
steering wheel) and I had to shorten the steering
arms to get more turn per the same hand movement...
I might even change the steering wheel to a 13" if
I dont like the feel when I start running it in the spring
