I have a 58 392 Hemi that I just got running. I pulled the valve covers to retorque the heads and noticed water seeping from the center lower head stud. Do any of the head bolt holes go into the water passages? I'm hoping its just some water getting by the threads. If not, I'll be pulling the head. I've checked my resources and don't see any mention of it.
Thanks
Arno

All of the Mopar V8, from the beginning in 1952,had blind head bolts, none went into the water jackets that I know of Pull the heads and look very closely to find out what is causing that Which head gaskets are you using now? If copper you may need to take some extra work to get them to seal I have If Cometics or MLS what RA finish # is on the deck and head mating surfaces?Lots of dang gremlins out there

What heads and dowel pins?? the dowel pins are sometimes to tall and hold the head up and water gets by the gasket?? Better check your oil!

Thanks guys,
I think I found where the water was coming from. I now know not to remove the valve covers without draining the water first. At the very least, the front upper valve cover bolts enter the water jackets. When I loosened the bolts, water was getting in. And yes I changed the oil because some water went down the oil return holes at the front of the heads.
Thanks for the replies!
Arno
