Look to see if the rotor is there.. next make sure
the carbon ball is in the center where the rotor touches

hei cap This is the second time this has happened. First time we borrowed a friends cap wires and rotor put them on and it fired up. So we bought new cap rotor and wires put them on it fired up was idling fine then it shut down like you turned the key off. Has not fired thru the plug wires since then.

lets see,, we have fire and it is going to the cap ! ,, check,,
we have no fire going out to the plug wires !, check,
mmm bad rotor ,, bug cracked... broke,,, burned,or the rotor is not turning!
it is either an easy fix , or something has broke on the dist shaft!

If the msd has fire, and you say it is firng to the cap then the MSD will be good it has to be a bug/cap ordeal,
I had my cap and bug burn up on my chevy truck where the coil wire goes into it would fire to the cap nothing to the plugs cost me missing a visitation and 250 tow bill

It could be a rotor phasing problem, Its firing in the center of the 2 plug terms on the cap?

I had a bent oil pump shaft once and it would cause trouble. The rotor was turning and crashing into the terminals and tearing off the tip.

How good of a spark ? should be real nasty/strong . out of the coil wire.. make you want to weld with it. blue in color..

I had a simular deal with my MSD system on my Dart a while back.I have a billet dist ,6Al ,and a blaster 2 coil.It would start and run fine for a few minutes ,then it would begin to break up and then die, then wouldnt start back for awhile .It would then start and do it all over. After changing the coil ,cleaning my grounds and calling the MSD tech support , i could only figure the box was bad. When i would jumper wire the dist the box would churp like it should and fire ,then it wouldnt.I finally found the problem as i was taking the box off the car.It had a loose terminal on the hot side where it went to my starter.I ran it to the starter when i moved the battery to the trunk. The wire was making contact then it wouldnt.Thats box needs 12 full volts at all times...

Change the cap also,,Had the same thing happen.Found the carbon ball had no fire coming through it. No continuity.Sounds crazy but it fixed my problem!

I had a problem like that as well. The gap on the electronic pick up module in the dist had spread way to far from the reluctor to tell it when to spark

Guess I should have read it better since you have spark to the cap..

If its firing from the coil its firing.... now was it
a weak spark (not a pick up issue) thats a coil issue
but as said was it getting THROUGH the coil tower
on the cap.... a stronger coil WILL jump more resistance

might want to check to make sure you have the + and - correct that go to the coil from the box.
