I use that cam in a 440, '67 Dart. I just upgraded the converter from a 2900 flash to about 3800, and it really helped. It was a big doggy before that since it doesn't make much power in my combo before 3300ish.

I'm not sure it would be worth switching from a regular 509 to this one though. The comp cam does have more exhaust duration, but I think it has less intake duration. The extra exhaust duration may not help over a single pattern cam like the regular 509.

If your pistons/springs can take more lift, I'd be looking at one of the XE grinds, or maybe the Lunati Voodoo, with more lift.

I can't see where that would be much if any better save for a little more exhaust duration. It's basically the same cam.

"BUT" it calls for 104 install if you move your 509 up to 103 or 102 from the suggested 106 install and the likely 108 to 110 (or worse) it is in at if you did not degree it you will be one happy camper!

Either the MP509 or the comp 509 must be properly degreed in to work properly I cannot stress this enough!!!!!

Dot to dot is just wrong 90% of the time and worse with todays timing sets and overall QC
