I need to replace the brake shoes and wheel cylinders in my '78 Impala in back, but I don't remember how to measure them. They're either 9x2" or 11x2". Do I measure across the drum, or do I measure the length of the material on the brake shoes? Are they interchangeable if they're length of brake shoe material? I have no friggin' clue. The inside area where the shoe rides, or the second gap between that area (the "meat", as it were, which is worn by the shoe) and the outer part of the drum? The diameter that gets worn away by the drums was like 9 3/4" and the diameter of the outer-inner area (I'm not coming up with a good name for that) was around 11. So...
