I have been using a gold ing box for probably 15+ years on my race car.I'm sure I left the ing on to long & fried the box. My questin is do I need to change br & coil if use a orange r chrome box. I used the br & coil that match the gold box, that why it lasted so long imo.

What coil/ballast do you have? I'm assuming the ballast is the MP .25 ohm unit recommended for the gold box. The ballast that comes with the orange box in the MP kit has a nominal 1.25 ohms & that one is also recommended (by MP) for the chrome box tho with either (orange or chrome) you can get by with less ballast depending somewhat on what coil you have. I definitely would not get an orange box & the chrome one is OK but is pricey for what you get. I believe that the ECU is pretty much just a switcher & the real power comes from the coil/ballast or coil/no ballast selection. I'd get a generic 4 pin ECU from your parts house along with an E coil & no ballast & just keep a spare parts house ECU like the one I"m suggesting in the glove box

Either use a Chrome box or an aftermarket box, the orange box is equal to the logs my dog leaves in the yard...
