The previous owner told me he took the voltage regulator off the car because he put on an MSD setup. The car has no lights working, no blinkers, no wipers nothing. It will crank up but that is the only thing working now. I got the car with the motor and all out of it. I am trying to get it back together and going and I know it does not have a one wire alt so it should be externally regulated.

Shouldn't this car have on and if so where did it go originally? The fire wall in the this car had been smooth out so there are no makings or a place there to go by...

Thanks everyone.. I think the car may have blown all the fuses but I don't know as I have not got to touch it today.. Going to work on it tomorrow and see and would love a good starting point like this.. The PO did leave the voltage regulator in the car in a bucket so I do have it..

www.mymopar.com for the wiring diagrams & when testing get a plastic twist & pull apart fuse holder & solder 2 alligator clips on each end & put it in series at either batt post so if you ground anything it'll pop the fuse. The reg would have a green and a blue wire, one with slotted terminal on the green wire (to the alt) and one with a insulated female connector on the blue wire (the blue is the switched 12V from the ign sw/bulkhead)

My 65s sits on the firewall.Just about in the middle.best to get the new electronic style reg if it has the single field alt.Sounds like the guy hacked it up pretty good.I run full MSD on mine and still have all the wiring.Probally have a full wiring harness at the other garage also.Rocky

Thanks guys... So there is no need to remove the voltage regulator just because it has a MSD box on it.

Here is a pic of the motor in the car. The person who built it had the voltage regulator on it but the guy I got it from added the MSD to it. I will do some digging to see if can find what he did...

the only possible reason i can see to remove the regulator at the firewall is if the alternator has a built in regulator,.. .

I bet he meant the ballast which is commonly removed when going to MSD. As said yes you need a reg (electronic is highly recommended) unless you're going with an internally regulated (reg inside the alt) 1 wire alt setup & I'd suggest staying with the std externally regulated setup . Not sure which one the Denso is but it has gotten good reviews
