I plan to remove the master cylinder from a 1973 Dart this winter. I would like to cap the lines to prevent brake fluid from dripping on the inner fender and damaging the paint. As I understand, inverted flare caps are not available. As a workaround in the past, I have used a union and a plug. I believe the master cylinder ports are 1/2-20 and 9/16-18. A 1/2-20 union and plug is readily available, but I am having trouble locating a 9/16-18 union and plug. Anyone know of a source for these fittings?

In line tube has a lot of inverted flare fittings. You may need to look in their "hot rod" catalogue or give them a call.

You could just use an old 9/16-18 line fitting and solder the end shut ?

I need a 9/16-18 female fitting to thread on to the loose brake line after I remove it from the master cylinder.

You have a few options. #2 should work fine for what you are describing.

1. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Master-Cylinder-...380496542668%26

2. You can use the square plastic 9/16-18 fitting that you get in a brake bleeding kit and cap off the fitting to prevent leakage. See photo below.

3. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fra-650306/overview/ and use a -3 cap.

That's all I do. Saved some Donner lines off of parts cars and have several as plugs and several with tubes for master bleeders.
