My 440 6 pack motor was idling erratic. Increasing between 1500 - 1000 rpms while in neutral. The RPMs dropped even further when I dropped the 727 in gear. Occassional Off idle backfiring was taking place too. Last night I found the rear carb throttle plate was not seated completly causing a vaccum leak. I adjusted the linkage and the eng. now seems to run fine. Haven't had the chance to test further but would like your opinions. Would this this rear carb not fully seating cause these problems. Thanks

The problem was right under my nose. I was chasing the problem as a ignition or fuel problem. Learn something new every day!!
