Thinking on ditching the 6 Pak and going to a single carb and Victor intake.
I've heard that these Ultra HP's are going to be a great carb. I was hoping they would make them in a 1050 but a 950 is the biggest.
I'm running a 496 with XTQ296 Comp (264/270 @.050) .580 lift and stock Eddy Performer RPM heads. Is a 950 HP Ultra going to be enough? Or should i just bite the bullet and go for the 1050 Dominator?
Anyone running the new Holley??

The new HP 950 has larger venturi than the older hp 1000 did instead of being smaller than the 850 like it used to be

I made five more HP and the exact same torque using a low deck six pak intake manifold and a stock type vacume six pak carbs compared to a Weiand Team G 4500 intake and a 1050 Holley Dominator with a expensive Wilson Intake manifold 1 1/2 inch tall reversion spacer. The spacer was worth 18 HP on the same intake and carb. Thats on the same day 20 minutes apart. All tests where on the same day, same motor with no other changes in between Not all sixpaks may be the same BTW, have you max the tune up on your sixpak yet? If not, do so

Jets, power valves, secondary springs, acc shots, timing changes.....What else???
Don't get me wrong...I'm not "ditching" it pursay....I just think there's a fair bit more on the table with some new tech. I've read all Hughes tests on the CH6 intakes and they obviuosly weren't slouches by any means...even though they're 40 year old technology.
I've got this ride running 1.45-1.46 60 foots and 6.90's in the 1/8th....like they say there's always room for improvement....Right??
Heck... I've even got an old TM7 Tarantula I could try out....

Dulcich did a test a couple years back of a decently built 440 with an RPM intake and I believe a worked Holley 830. He then switched to a six Pak set-up and it ran really close
You can probably look through the oEngine Master website for it.

Another thing to think on. I have heard that Holley is coming out with a new Dominator. Pricing in Jan 13 I think. options are 950 thru 1450cfm. Could be mistaken but that is what I have heard from 2 sources.

I just installed a Holley ultra 1150 on my car, I can't give you a comparison though. I can say mine isn't giving me any issues, and it is a lot lighter than the 9375 I took off.

The 950 is a good carb and the new Holley aluminum carbs are great. They have so many new features that they make the older carbs obsolete.

If you have the room you might consider running the Super Victor rather than the Victor. Another good manifold would be the Mopar Performance M1 4500 intake. I'd use either of those intakes before running the Victor on a 500 inch engine.

Victor has a very small plenum. The 4500 intakes have much larger plenums and the new Holley carbs have a dual bolt pattern so they bolt right on. Most people haven't figured that out yet so you can be the first one on the block to do it.

Thanks for the info Andy.

And Todd......Hopefully in early spring to head south. Places like Summit and the like seem to always show up!!! Roadtrips can be fun even WITH the wife.... LOL

I haven't worked for a year now, and money isn't that thick to spread around, that's why I was asking about using the Victor....I just happen to have one laying here. One good thing anyways...I could slap this Victor on and give it a go... then save up some money for an M1.
I got the heads off and apart right now...hopefully all they need is springs and a face cut.
Of course...Santa possibly could Ha Ha!!
