Like it says is special oiling mods needed for an engine to turn 7500 all race season? How deep of oil pan, special windage tray or no windage tray, ect? We have a 7 qt pan on the car now but is very old and leaks all the time so I plan on replacing it anyways. The oil pump is just pretty much a stock pump because we only see about 50-55 lbs of oil pressure. From my understanding that doesn't sound like enough to keep up with 7500 or a little more all the time. Windage tray is also stock that we have now.

On a wet sump engine it is a good idea to use the deepest pan that you can fit into the chassis. Milodon has a super deep pan for SB engines taht would work great at 7500 rpm. Lowering the pump down into the pan is also a good idea if you can make it work in your chassis.

Probally not, it would be to deep. Time for a SS style pan with a kickout and a long sump with a tube for the steering link to the idler arm to go through Try Calling Charlies Oil Pans and see what they say and offer

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

I see thanks for the suggestion. I am still trying to get my thoughts together over the winter for our car. I have a set of 5.13 gears but engine will turn like 8200 maybe 8400 with a 29.5x10.5 tire. That just seems alittle much especially for bracket racing. I don't know if anyone has gone this high with a small block and bracket raced it some what. I was also thinking a 4.88 or 86 depeding on rear end set up and turning like 7500 rpm. I know either way alittle bit of oiling mods we need to be done. I plan on staying with a flat tappet cam but probaly going to get a new custom grind one. Looking into going to a set of roller rockers. Also solid lifters. I am really considering hughes engines cam and lifters and valve springs. My buddy runs them and has very good luck with there stuff.

Go to www.moparchat.com then click on circle track chat then go thru Sanborns oiling mods that are in a sticky at the top of the page. One of the countries' foremost SB oiling experts & alot is applicable to BB's with some changes for the different routing. All your Q's will be answered (& then some)

Smokey Yunick said the best oil pan was a foot wide and a mile deep but my favorite quote of his
The price of progress is trouble!
Easy to forget he invented the
projected tip spark plug, cross flow radiator , did all the work to make real the big block Chevy with canted valve head ( also known as the 396, 454, etc) did all the real work to discover the benefits of plate honing, etc The man was a mechanical God if there ever was one in my book--no matter his personality etc He was da man!
We look back and some of his stuff looks crude now but he helped pave the way for so many things we take for granted today that it ain't funny. Ok back to that oil pan question...
