Looking to try different metering blocks on a HP950 "copy" carb. Basic issue is WOT AFR. Goes to 13.0 AFR at the hit of the throttle no matter the jet and stays there. Borrowed a HP-950 Holley and AFR read 11.8 at the same WOT checks. Been althrough the thing. Tuned it to 14mpg/idles drives perfect ,but WOT cannot be adjusted. Need a new carb.,,, but hope just metering blocks will do it too? What metering blocks are decent at a reasonable cost?

Find the problem, fuel feed restriction, and fix it What size needles and seats are in your copy cat HP950?

That's not the best picture... what brand of "copycat" metering blocks and main body did that carb come with?
Have no idea, they are pretty coursely machined. Found shavings inside too............
If that's a ProComp-based copy, it could be either the metering blocks or the main body having restrictions in the fuel passages.
Try Holley metering blocks w/ the current main body to see if that cures the problem.
If the metering block swap doesn't fix it, it could be something like the downleg boosters haven't been sized properly to flow enough fuel for your use.
My (and I know it's easy to spend other people's $$$), is to sh!t-can the Horrey calb and put a proven unit on it, rather than expend any time & $ trying to band-aid the offshore parts.
