Have you folks used this stuff? Can it be used directly over bare metal. Can it be top coated with Rustoleum???

I have a rearend that I wire wheeled and am getting ready to paint. I have Zero Rust paint as well as some etch primer. What would you use to cover the bare steel before I hit it with some rattle can Rustoleum black. This isn't a show car, just trying to make do with what I have.

I know you're trying to work with what you have and I too have used rustoleum spray on my restore. But for the rear end, I used rustoleum oil enamel and a foam brush, only because the rear would seem to get exposed to the elements and the oil is tougher than the spray. I have also used zero rust, I bought it from this very knowledgeable site:
http://www.autobodystore.com/
They can tell you how to apply it.

Just wire brush your axle. Blow it off and your ready to spray the zero rust. Go to Restoricks website for more info.

You will have to wait awhile to topcoat. More than a day.
