you need to look for the part number stamped on the pan rail it should be on the driver side front. somewhere on the net is a file with the part numbers and what they came in

You can rule these out;

Quote:

Barracuda 69 383
Chrysler 69 383
DArt 69 383

because St. Louis only produced B-bodies for the 1969 model year.

Is that list correct and if so what is different between the 330HP trans and the 335HP trans considering that automatic transmission cases themselves are not body specific?

1969 A bodies had the 335HP engine that was installed in the road runner and superbee , only difference being the the A body had a dual point distributor and exhaust manifolds ???

You can also rule out the HP applications like a 383HP or 440 as they had the 093 automatic.

So you are looking at a car with the 330 horse 383-4bbl (Charger with automatic, Belvedere/Satellite or Coronet model, or Road Runner or Super Bee with A/C) I don't have any other cars close to that VIN to help nail it down further.

John, I'm not a transmission guy by any means but there are internal differences like springs and clutches between the 091 LP and 093 HP trannys.

That I assumed Doug, thanks, curious as to what as I haven't had access to either trans in an unrebuilt condition.

I want to believe that the 383 A body had the 093 , maybe I should start a thread hoping original cars still have thier original trans and which it is ???

John, I only have one partial BS from a 69 A body 383-4 Automatic and it shows 091.

what does: L 2736 5734 mean?

Day 2736 is Thursday, January 23, 1969 on the 10,000 day calendar. That would fit well with the late Feb VIN. 5734 = transmission assembly number that day

It's just a transmission production date , it SHOULD be before the date on the fender tag since the trans is assembled elsewhere and shipped to the car assembly plant .
