Found this mark on the driver's door on my 1971 R/T Challenger.

Everything on the inside of the car appears to have it's factory purple paint.

I'm assuming this is a factory mark?

What does it mean?

Thanks.

It could be someones initials, they did stuff like that all the time. I know of an A12 car that has SH.T inside the trunk lid, to let the next guy know he went to the bathroom. Got painted over but bled though. I opened up a door and the plastic that is behind the door pad had somebodies name written on it with the glue gun that was used to apply the glue.

i`ve seen the number 2 on the inner door of a 71 barracuda. my 69 charger has numbers letters near the rear parcel shelf and also on the inner skirt in the engine bay. definitely factory.
all the best
frank.

I have seen at least 30-40 1970 E bodies from Hamtramck with "Rock"
on the inner rear wheelhouse.

I'm gonna start going around to unrestored cars laying around and write random thoughts in order to have the owners replicate them on builds. I'll spend my later days looking at them in magazine's, having a laugh......

Kidding man.

In photos it looks like chalk, but in my car it looked like a China Marker. Unsure what it really is that allows one to paint over it and not have it separate or blister paint off.

Marks on my car appeared to be on the top surface

And yes, I have no doubt it's a mark from the factory . . . that likely means nothing, similar to when I carved my name in a tree as a kid to show I was there

Probably more like "let ten cars go by then take a break & meet me at the usual spot, we'll smoke some skunkweed...

You have a warped, twisted, deviate mind. And I'm jealous I didn't think of that first.

I know, I'm a bit jealous myself.
