I've been working on this B&M Quick Silver shifter
with all sorts of issues... and finally after talking
to B&M 3 different times finally figured out the issues
(even before the tech people)... the shifter is a old
shifter I bought about 12 years ago but was new in
the box from Summit(was going to use it on my 38)..
according to the down load directions I was to install
2 pins, one for the 4 speed lock out and 1 for the
GM park position... they didnt come with it but I
got from my buddy that didnt need them for his shifter.
well I tried to install these pins
and all it did was SCREW up everything... so when I
called B&M for the third time I asked... are these
pins suppose to go all the way through to the other
side... the guy says.. yes of course... when I told him
I HAD NO HOLES ON THE OTHER SIDE he said hold on...
he comes back in a couple of minutes and
said... well you have a OLD style(not what he said
in those words)... one from the transition period..
(of course I do, it only figures)but he said it will
work but the pins were the fix to keep people from
flexing everything....OK I can deal with that...
then question 2.. it doesnt like to go into reverse or
park without messing around with running up and down
the gears... again he had no idea and when I asked
if they will repair or inspect the shifter... he says well
they would look at it for $90 plus shipping... I said
forget that.. I'll look at it... well after analyzing
how it worked I see there was a spring missing......
what a PITA... but I got it squared away..... with
a trip to the hardware store for a couple of springs...
sorry for the novel but I had to vent a bit.....
its a stupid shifter.. its not rocket science ...
I did talk to the tech guy for at least 20 minutes
the last time trying to figure this out... I did call
back and left a voice message for the tech to the
one problem just in case someone else has the same issue
I did leave all the swear words out.... LOL
