I have a '67 Fury with a 318 engine from a 1976 Volare. When I changed the engine 14 years ago, I converted the ignition to the electronic system that was in the Volare. The other morning the car just stopped as I slowed to make a turn. After ruling out the fuel delivery as the culprit, I of course tried a ballast resistor with no results. Luckily I had a spare module which corrected the problem. I did not realize that these could just fail with no prior symptoms. Has anyone here seen this type of sudden failure. I seem to recall another time I had one of these modules fail on this car but I had a warning with stalling and rough running first. Thanks for info.
John

They don't often fail, but they can just out of the blue like that.

It would depend on what circuit goes out in the ECU as the right one would kill it dead but yes most that go bad start to act up like you described & get changed out
