Looking for some information on how the factory (Ma Mopar) assembled the inner and outer rear wheel houses together. There is a flange with some kind of gripped pattern on them with smaller spot welds then used on the rest of the car. A friend of mine is restoring a 70 Road Runner and would like to duplicate this factory process or the or appearance. Thanks for any help with this task.

Probably assembled before attaching the the trunk pan using a clamp type spot welder... Often used in manufacturing..

Take my advice... splice the outer wheelhouse to the old one a few inches short of that joint you are talking about. I'd even leave that verticle "boxed" shape in place and have your splice on the outside of it. That joint you are talking of is like a "rolled weld" instead of spots. I don't think you can separate it without tearing up more that you fix. Besides that, there are 3-4 layers at that joint... probably why it is welded that way.

Thanks for the info guys. Sandy your 70 is awesome! I also like your web page. I have talked to you in the past about the 68 with the d4l interior. I also have a 68 LL1 with D4l interior.
