i have a small "ding" on one of my rod journals, cant feel it with your nail when u scratch the way the rod rotates on it, but side to side u can, no sharp high spots, bearing should be fine, shouldnt it.......lol

As long as there are no high spots it should be ok.

HS machine shop teacher VERY lightly scored a bearing on a crank once.... Just a loop of crocus cloth and a few turns, new bearings, all was good. Ran well for atleast 3+years till he sold the car. that was almost 30years ago...

you can carefully sand the nick with emery cloth and it will be good. Just dont try spining the crank / rods before removing the nick or you may have to buy a new rod bearing.

All you need to do is remove the raised metal. I use a fine jewelers file to delicatly remove the bulk of the raised metal before a little polishing with crocus cloth.
