I repaired a 2010 Caliber and had to replace the a/c condenser (which contains the trans cooler) and one of the trans lines. I lost a small amount of fluid. However, I guess I'm getting blind as I can't see where to check the fluid. So, where do you check it, and what kind of fluid does it take? TIA, Dallas

From what I have read it is a long process with the right tools and level of understanding to get the fluid level set correctly. I have been told that is a dealer only job. That is why you dont see a dipstick. They do not want you anywhere near the transmission. The process is very misunderstood, and so is the CVT trans. Good luck.
Too many cars, too many parts, too little coin, too little space to work in, too little time left to make it all happen!
Update: down to one ride, still too many parts, a little more jingle in the pocket, gaining space, and it's going to happen this year!

Alright, I probably lost about 4-6 oz. I just wanted to check it to make sure that wouldn't affect it. Thanks for the reply. Dallas

The "official" position from Mopar and Ford (and others), is the transmission fluid is application specific and often mixed up, so they don't want the customer to mess with the trans fluid. The "un-official" position, take it to the dealer, KA-CHING!!! Dear valued customer, please bend over and grab your ankles.

I discussed it with the customer today and he said he would take it to the dealer he bought it from. He said he called them and they would check it for free. So, I don't have to take 3 hours of my time to take it in and get it done. Thanks for the replies, Dallas
