Nobody has briought it up, so I will.

The solid cam with the comparable @ .050 duration will typically have much better @ .200 duration so even if the net lift is the same the solid should still help your port window fill the slugs better and achieve higher average VE and a broader torque curve...., that equals more power. The solid also has much lower tappet weight and will 'snap' the valve action quicker. That Edelbrock is a pretty tame stick, Edelbrock repackages several of the old general kinetics grinds dating back to the 60's. you can find that same grind in the PAW SSI house grind.

Finally hauled my Dodge down for sum TNT with the new cam.My previous best with the old cam was a 7.13 in the 1/8 in perfect air and track conditions.

This time out with the new cam it was cold (in the 30's)and fighting a 20 mph wind on an unprepped track.

I ran a 7.07 on my first pass and made a total of 16 passes (all in the 7.0's) since there was no one else wanting to run.I almost felt guilting beating the car up for that many passes in justa few hours, but it took it without a problem.

My best and last pass of the evening was a 7.00 @ 98 .I think i woulda got a 6.99 eventually that night ,but they shut down the track early due to the weather .

Moral of the story is the cam gained me a solid tenth and a half in the 1/8 and my mph went from 95-96 to 97-98 over the old one.I havent even really fine tuned anything yet either .

I was also fighting a wicked stumble of the line on every pass ,that im thinking is in the carb.Maybe jet extensions will be in order.

I ran the 408 to 6500 rpm a few times and it was still pulling when i shifted with the new cam .I cant wait to run it in the 1/4 now cuz im thinking i should be flirting with the 10's now ...

Good gain w/more there and you NEED jet extensions in the rear and some carb tuning and you might just be surprised. You do have a wideband right?
