Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

i would have to agree the 5.7 with a tko600 is a nice set up. mine is in a 69 fast back cuda. although the body work is not done, it is definitely driveable. two weekends ago i drove 700 miles round trip to St. Louis from Dayton, Oh. It got 24 mpg going 65-70 on the way there, and 20 mpg on the way back going 80 mph. it has a keisler bell and 3.91 with a 28 inch tall tire. this is a non-MDS motor too, with a 6.1 cam installed. as far as driveability no issues. I would expect mid to low 13's with traction issues and lack of experience from my driving. i would be glad to offer up any help. a stroker small block would be fun, but i dont think its going to be near as driveable, and depending on the combo you can make a 5.7 run with one (in my opinion).

good luck and nice car

How do you tell the difference between a MDS and non-MDS motor without taking it apart? Or do modifications need to be made to the engine/engine controller before you can retrofit into an older car?
