I am sure this has been asked a dozen or more times but here I go asking again. I purchased a 1967 barracuda last spring. I have several header panels and grills but all are fairly rough. My question is, aside from the honeycomb center of the 67, what else is different. I have found a place to purchase a complete set for 68 & 69 but nothing for a 1967. Will the surrounds and fender extensions fit mine? My front clip is out for bodywork and I would like to have an idea of what to do for a grill set when it comes home. Also I was wondering if the window belts have all parts included or do I need to salvage what I can from mine.
Thanks

Nothing from the front of a '69 will fit on a '67, everything is different (although they look similar at a quick glance). 1967 and '68 headlight bezels are the same I think, but as you know, the plastic grill inserts are different. The turn signals in the grill are also different between '67 and '68.

Headlight surrounds are different too. I know a guy who restors 67 grilles in the Chicago area, PM me for info.

There are at least 3 different configurations of 67 and 68 headlight surrounds. They will physically "interchange". The amount of screw holes in the outer lip (3 vs 2) and presence one support screw hole in the inner flat are the variables.

The nosecone aluminum surrounds are interchangeable 67 to 68 and are riveted together and to the vertical support braces. One riveted in vertical support brace changes between 67 and 68 and can be interchanged to accept the appropriate inner grille and turn signal housing.

Are you specifically looking at brand new headlight and grille setups from PG Classics, www.beaparts.com , Herb's Parts, etc??

You could use your old 67 inserts by changing the one verticale support brace with a repro 68 insert. The 67 aluminum grille inserts with honeycomb/grid inside are usually in pretty nice shape. Not terribly hard to restore either.

I don't see them at all on the online catalog. Only the plastic 68 inner grilles. But...

Drill out the rivets of the vertical 68 supports on your new nosecone surrounds and replace with a painted-straight-nice-restored-used 67 support.

Then restore your 67 inner aluminum grilles and bolt on.

Then use the 68 repro headlight buckets. I extremely doubt they will ever make them with the other bolt holes comfigurations.

Thanks, I think I will order the complete 68 srill and put the 67 inserts into it then. I was unsure until I had others ideas on what would work.

Can you get them without the plastic 68 grille insert and 68 chrome grille surround??

Basically without these: (of course w/o broken grille)

I found the parts out of classic industries catalog. It almost looks like it is the grill housing that I need to purchase for mine. The grill screen is fine, bit the housing is offered in 69 models only. OK I will put it simple so I can understand what I am typing. (no offense to anybody, just hard to explain) It looks like a previous owner of the car ran into a bar that he was pulling up to one evening. Both pointed front fenders are now inverted and the lip of the grills are smashed to the new shape of the header panel. They are smashed flat, yet the center and marker lights look great. I have purchased a set but they are in tough shape also. My body man said he van fix the fenders, I think I now know why I am not a bodyman!
