Looking for the best deals on:
-Forward manual valvebody WITH low-band apply (IE: Griner, Turbo Action, A&A etc
-Bolt in sprag, just regular one, supersprag not needed
-5.0 or 4.2 kickdown lever (any suggestions)
-Billet band strut
-Billet servo pistons etc?
I can get most of the above from Mancini for around $400 which seems reasonable... any suggestions from other sources?
The best deals are almost always DIY
A dead-stock valve body has low band apply, that is why it's call the 'low' band. I'm inclined to think the conversion to reverse pattern sacrifices the band apply. There are shift kits out there that have a 'full manual' option in the instructions. This may well be what you get if you buy a valve body from someone.
I just bolted in my OE sprag outer race without pulling it out and sacrificing the awesome knurled/pressed and setscrew deal. All it took was putting the case in my drill press and going through the existing holes and into the sprag and then following up with a tap and some grade 8 bolts, trimmed to exact length. I went ahead and did all 6 but that isn't necessary.
The stock band strut can be reinforced or a new one made out of heavier steel, it's really just a hunk of metal.
Billet servo pistons can be found in the moparts classifieds but I've never used them. If you plan to run high pressures they're probably a good idea.

If you were on the other side of the world like me, I would understand sending the email. Give John a call, he is great to deal with!
