Will acetone hurt urethane clear? I had the van pinstriped this past weekend, and after looking, studying, and discussing it with my significant other, we hate it. I'm hoping to get it off of there without hurting the clearcoat.

has the clear beem baked or air dried? i regularly use lacquer thinner on baked PPG 2021 clear without any problems.

you should try using rubbing alcohol on the stripes. then try the acetone, your idea, or some enamel reducer. if the stripe is a week old it should wipe right off.
you have a solid color so if the solvent smudges the paint it should be a easy buff.

If the reducer doesnt work you can try 1200 wet sandpaper very lightly then a buff. Worked for me!

Well, I tried. Started with lighter fluid, then 3m adhesive remover. The stripes were put on thick, and take a ton of rubbing. I thought laquer thinner might work, so I tried it. Guess I'll have to have the hood repainted now, it ate clean through the clear coat.
