Does anybody have a recommendation for some sound or heat insulating pads? And does anybody know if someone makes a complete kit for a 70 challenger? Someone said HUSH MAT was good. Thanks!

Are you talking about like what the factory put in or going a step further and adding extra stuff? Repos of the factory stuff can be had from different people.I went the extra step also. Go to a mobil home supply and get a row of roof flashing. Its self adhesive rubber and aluminum almost like daynamat but at a fraction of the cost.

Dynamat although nice is very pricy. Summit for one sells a similar product for a lot less. Only bad thing about these times of sound deadner are they are hard to remove. So you better make sure the floor and such under are painted and sealed up well. My challenger, I used spray on bedline... but mostlyly because of how much welding and patching I did.

I used dynamat it's nice stuff. If you buy from summit or Jegs go to Amazon first and find the best price. They will match it. I saved a pile of money doing this. I had them price match because I knew Summit would have it in stock and ship quickly. I wasn't sure about the amazon sellers but they were much much cheaper and Summit matched it.

Stripmasters used a combination of Dynamat and factory firewall/kickpanel insulation on my Challenger.

Can you use the same stuff on roof before I put regular insulation and headliner in?

I've heard the Home Depot stuff will stink when it gets hot over 80 degrees.

Do you have experience with that stuff in a car on a really hot day?

The stuff I used from home depot was like a closed cell foam. Foil on one side and adhesive on the other. No smell at all. I was too cheap to put dynomat or a look alike in. I think I bought two rolls at about $30 a piece for just the floor of my Challenger.

I went the cheap way on my 70 Challenger, though I was focused on noise (Michigan doesn't have a BIG problem with hot weather).
I went to my closest "Pick and Pull" junkyard and got the under-carpet insulation out of a late 80's "AS" model Chrysler T&C minivan. $20 for the whole floor area, enough material to do two cars. Nice thick insulation with a sound deadening mastic bonded to it. The later 90's insulation is not as good, I suspect more of the task was accomplished by pieces bonded integrally to the floor.
Besides putting it on the floors, and trunk partition, I used 3M upholstery adhesive to glue it to the back of those nasty hard plastic door panels. You need to trial fit it before you glue, as some areas near the armrest are critical to door panel fit and attachment locations.
Seems to have civilized my car some.
