79machocharger OP master Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 5,443 ME	I was interested in this kind of flat black. Love the looks of the flat shine to it. Must be a black base with a flat clear on it. PPG uses a matte clear coat over the base matte finish while BASF has the clear mixed into the finish itself. I believe the Lexus in the pic uses BASF. Never trust a pretty girl... or a lonely midget.

Have a buddy here thats done quite a few old rods and muscle cars with it. It'll cost ya bout $50 at the most for everything ya need. Really looks like somebody used a rattle can of primer on it.

Into a flat black car would be a mistake, that car has potential in it's original color! If you do go with black at least leave it red under the hood, trunk, and jambs so it's easy to go back to red..

It�s true that the outer panels are all pretty much rust free and straight except for some rust in the lower quarters but the condition of the outer panels is deceiving and hides some major problems. The inner fenders are rusted at the firewall and shock towers, the trans cross member and front floors are cheese cloth where they exist at all and the rear wheel wheels no longer meet the trunk pan. It was born a red 66 383 Satellite (drive train is long gone) that at some point someone mounted 67 hood scoops to and installed a GTX rear seatback.

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.
