Where is the correct spot to fill fuel on the center carb to prime if the car has been sitting idle for weeks?
I know some old school guys just pour it down the carb but I remember seeing a specific spot on the carb to fill the bowl.

thanks!

Hit the pharmacy for a kids liquid medicine syringe. Usually they give them away if you ask.

Fill syringe and squirt it down the vent tube.

I use a small squeeze bottle with a 90 degree neck, and fill it thru the vent tube with gasoline, if you have a 69 center with just the bowl vent rubber hat shaped cap, you can still fill it thru there,...better than throwing it down the carb throat

Pretty sure it's a Holley 2300 thing. I've heard other buddies with Holley tri-packs on Vettes having the same probelm.

Any car that has a mecahanical fuel pump that sits for very long will have empty fuel bowls in 2 or 3 weeks Especailly todays pump swill with Ethanol and the other additives they add into it to help suspend and keep the gas from not letting the alcohol drop to the bottom of the tanks, it evaporates a lot faster also

what am i missing? i dont drive some of my cars for months and i dont need to prime,is it a 6 pack thing???

i`m sure every carb made will evaporate the fuel if it is left sitting long enough. fill the bowl through the vent tube and pump the throttle on the carb till you see the squirters squirting-then fire it up-it should run long enough to get the fuel up from the pump-if not do it again until everything is sweet.

So I picked up my 1970 T/A today from having carbs rebuilt(6pack), car ran fine on the drive home 20 miles, car sat for about an hour and my son wanted to go for a drive we cruise around for 15 minutes a and a couple WOT runs, pull down my street and stalls right in front of my house. Cranked over would not start, opened hood noticed clear fuel filter had no gas in it. pour small amout of gas down center carb, car started up for 10 seconds repeated this for 20 minutes car would only for run as long as the gas i poured in carb would last, fuel filter now has gas in it but the battery is dead. I just recently switched from electric fuel pump to mechinical. what could the problem be?

Start at the beginning, make sure fuel in tank. Next elect pump comes on. Disconnect line somewhere after pump and shoot fuel into a can, noting sufficient volume. Make sure no kinks in fuel line.

Also check for loose connections or bad hose any where along the inlet line from the sending unit to the pump.

Hook up a vacuum gauge to the inlet side crank the motor and check for vacuum

Repeat on output side checking for pressure.

The choke flap won't run the fuel filter dry...As stated check the easy stuff first...Fuel line routing,no clogged lines etc... Are you running a repop vapor separator ???
