Wow! I'm running a dual (600cfm) quad setup on my rebuilt 440. I've always run the carbs with the progressive linkage because I always thought that having them both come in at the same time would be way too much. I would have the secondary carb come in after about 1/2 throttle of the primary and they would both get full throttle at the same time. But it always seemed a little sluggish off the bottom end. Not terrible, but not what I would have hoped for. So after reading another thread regarding this, I decided on our cruise today to try it 1:1...both carbs opening at the same time. HOLY CRAP! What a difference! Totally different animal now! Woke that baby RIGHT up! VERY much fun to play with on the street ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif) Super responsive off the bottom through mid range. She'll FRY the tires now! ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eeek.gif) Top end is the same, but that's expected. The bad news is that I can actually watch the gas gauge go to "E" at a rate I've never seen Still, it sure is FUN now! ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drive.gif) Glad I read that thread!! ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beer.gif) Thanks guys!

You sound pumped! I have a pair of 4131S AFB's which are smaller than 600 CFM going on a dual quad 451 & was wondering if I should go progressive or not as this is my 1st dual quad setup so after your experience I will make em 1:1 & go from there. EDIT it's an iron single plane OE B intake

Awwwww very neat- you are running an old Offenhauser. Dont see them anymore. I have an Offy 2x4 for 273/318 purchased brand new from Summit in 2003 that is destined for my 360. Nice!
Keep old mopars alive.

GORGEOUS car, inside and out. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bow.gif)
It's great to see you tweaking it in a way that makes a difference!
Thanks. Yes, it's not often I get the chance to do very little work for a huge result. Usually I work all day to go one step backward ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh2.gif)

Thanks. Yes, that's an Offy. I was thinking about switching it out for an Edelbrock CH28. I've heard they work a little better. It's not in the budget right now though.

Yes, I would do that. The funny thing is, when I bought the car (stock tired engine) he had it set up like that and it was a dog. WAY too much carburetor. SO I set it up progressive and it was much better. Then, when I rebuilt and modified the engine with better cam, .030 over, Stealth heads, headers, etc. I just kept it that way not thinking there would be much difference. And truthfully, there wasn't. I was expecting a really potent engine but I was disappointed because it felt only slightly better than the old one. But, wow. I guess all that stuff made a difference because it sure like the cfms now! ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)

Back in 1999 I spoke to a tech at an Edelbrock booth at a Lane Automotive car show. At the time I had a 440, 509 cam, 3000 stall with the CH28 and 2 500cfm carbs. I asked him about progressive and 1 to 1 and he told me my engine with its mods to definately go 1 to 1 and that running 2 500s was fine. (Their power package recommends 2 600s) It would be very interesting to see how the old Offy compares to the CH28 Edelbrock.
Keep old mopars alive.
